Travelling overseas for work or leisure comes with its own set of risks.

According to recent studies, nearly 30% of business travellers report encountering safety concerns, and over 40% of international travellers to high-risk regions lack adequate preparation to handle unexpected threats.

These statistics highlight the urgent need for accessible and effective training to ensure personal safety in hostile environments.

When two innovative organisations join forces, the results can be transformative. That’s exactly what happened when Reuzer partnered with Inverroy Crisis Management to create a comprehensive suite of 10 e-learning modules. Together, they’ve developed cutting-edge security and situational awareness training for individuals travelling to low, medium, and high-risk countries.

Building on shared values

Both Reuzer and Inverroy are proud members of the East of England Energy Group (EEEGR), an organisation that fosters collaboration and innovation within the energy sector. This shared connection laid the foundation for their partnership, combining Reuzer’s expertise in e-learning platforms and content creation with Inverroy’s unparalleled crisis management services.

Inverroy brings years of experience in navigating the unknown with confidence. Their offerings include Crisis and Continuity Management, Security Risk Management, and Safety and Risk Management, which empowers businesses to react, respond and recover quickly from disruptive events. Together, these strengths make them an ideal partner for a project that equips travellers with essential skills and knowledge to stay safe.

Designing world-class training modules

The collaboration set out to achieve one clear goal: to create high-quality, engaging, and practical training modules that address the diverse needs of modern travellers. Over the course of 10 meticulously crafted modules, the training covers a wide range of topics, including:

  • LGBTQ+ Awareness
  • Journey Management
  • Pre-Travel Preparation
  • Conflict Management
  • Kidnap and Ransom Awareness
  • Cybersecurity for Travelers
  • Checkpoint Awareness

What sets these courses apart is the expertise behind the content. Each module has been storyboarded by former military personnel who draw on their own experiences and industry best practices to ensure the material is realistic and relevant.

Moreover, Reuzer worked closely with Inverroy to ensure all modules aligned with Inverroy’s branding requirements. Every detail, from tone to visuals, reflects Inverroy’s established identity, reinforcing the quality and credibility of the training.

Interactive learning with a personal touch

To keep learners engaged, each course incorporates frequent interactions and a final assessment to reinforce key takeaways. AI-based characters guide users’ learning journey, providing a personalised and immersive experience. These virtual presenters ensure that users feel supported throughout their training, making the content more approachable and relatable.

Reuzer has also added its creative flair to the project by designing custom illustrations in collaboration with long-time partner Andy Ward. These visuals, paired with sleek 2D animations, bring complex concepts to life. For example, topics like Cooper’s Colour Code and the OODA Loop are explained with dynamic animations that make these critical situational awareness tools easy to understand and remember.

Cooper’s Colour Code simplifies situational awareness by categorising levels of alertness into five colours: White (unaware), Yellow (relaxed alertness), Orange (specific alert), Red (ready to act) and Black (Panic). Learners are shown how to use this framework to stay aware of their surroundings and identify potential threats early.

The OODA Loop stands for Observe, Orient, Decide, and Act. It’s a decision-making tool originally developed for military applications, helping individuals process information quickly and respond effectively in high-pressure situations. This module breaks down each step with real-world examples and interactive scenarios, giving users the confidence to make informed decisions under stress.

Hosting on the Reuzer Platform

The entire suite of courses is hosted on the Reuzer Platform, known for its user-friendly interface and robust functionality. Inverroy manages enrolment, giving their users seamless access to the training content. This streamlined process ensures that learners can focus on acquiring the necessary skills without any technical hurdles.

A cost-effective and convenient solution

This e-learning solution offers significant cost advantages, particularly for organisations operating on restricted travel budgets. Compared to the potential financial and reputational costs of a serious safety incident, these training modules provide an affordable way to prepare travellers for the unexpected.

Additionally, hosting the courses online eliminates the need for travel and accommodation expenses associated with classroom-based training. Learners can access the content from anywhere, fitting it into their schedules without disrupting their work or requiring additional resources.

While Inverroy also offers valuable classroom training, this e-learning option provides flexibility for organisations that might not have the time or budget for in-person sessions. The modules serve as an excellent complement to traditional training, ensuring that more individuals can benefit from critical safety knowledge regardless of logistical constraints.

By combining Inverroy’s deep understanding of organisational resilience with Reuzer’s innovative e-learning solutions, they’ve created a training program that stands out in its field.

Whether it’s preparing for the unexpected or navigating high-risk situations with confidence, this suite of modules equips learners with the tools they need to succeed. It’s a project that addresses current security challenges and sets a new standard for online training in the energy and security sectors.

As both organisations continue to innovate and grow, this partnership is just the beginning of what’s possible.

Together, Reuzer and Inverroy are making the world a safer, more informed place for travellers everywhere.
