When Perenco approached us, they had a clear goal in mind: create a fresh, engaging offshore induction that could be rolled out across all their assets—manned and unmanned installations alike.

No small ask, especially when the safety and preparedness of offshore crews are on the line.

The challenge

Traditional inductions often fall into one of two camps: too generic, or a bit too dry. Perenco wanted to break that mould. They needed something visually engaging, technically accurate, and easy to digest—something that didn’t feel like just another checkbox exercise. It had to cover all the key safety essentials: emergency response arrangements, PPE requirements, common offshore hazards, and the control measures in place to keep crews safe.

But that was just the start. The content also needed to explain emergency life-saving apparatus, offshore alarms and what each one means, as well as specific requirements for responding to man overboard scenarios—including the role of the ERRV (Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel).

In short, this wasn’t just about ticking compliance boxes—it was about truly preparing people for life offshore.

Our approach

We knew early on that this wouldn’t be your typical induction video. So, we created a fully animated 3D environment that mirrored Perenco’s offshore world. This gave us the freedom to visualise everything—from helicopter arrivals to emergency drills—without the limitations or risks of filming offshore.

To guide the viewer through the induction, we brought in a presenter—a friendly, consistent on-screen narrator who humanised the experience. This wasn’t just someone reading lines; this was a presence the viewer could trust, making even the most complex or critical information feel approachable and clear.

Bringing emergency scenarios to life

Emergency procedures need more than a checklist—they need to be understood, remembered, and executed under pressure. We recreated realistic offshore scenarios: from the sound of specific alarms and what action each one requires, to emergency evacuation drills and muster points.

We also covered the details around emergency life-saving apparatus—what it is, where to find it, and how to use it when it matters most. For man overboard situations, we explained how the ERRV supports the rescue operation and what’s expected of the crew in such scenarios.

The result? An induction that not only informs but builds confidence before anyone sets foot offshore.

Hazards and control measures

From common slips and trips to more serious risks like chemical handling or working at height, the induction breaks down hazards into simple, easy-to-understand segments. Each hazard is introduced visually, explained clearly, and paired with real-world control measures—so the learner sees not just the risk, but the solution.

Consistency across all assets

Perenco operates across a range of installations, so consistency in induction messaging was key. By building modular, clearly structured content, we ensured the induction could be used flexibly across both manned and unmanned sites without losing its impact or relevance.

The result

The final product is a clear, engaging, and technically robust induction video. It sets the tone for safety from day one, ensuring everyone from green-hands to seasoned crew members understands what’s expected—and why it matters.

The combination of 3D animation and a presenter-led narrative delivers the perfect blend of clarity, engagement, and professionalism. And because the format is easy to update, the content remains future-proof, scalable, and adaptable.

Why it works

At Reuzer, we believe safety training should do more than tick a box. It should equip people with the knowledge and confidence to operate safely, no matter what the environment throws at them.

This project with Perenco is a perfect example: clear messaging, compelling visuals, and a real human touch—designed to keep crews safe and informed from the very first day.
